I AM directed by the Board of Trade to acknowledge the receipt of your letter of the 2nd March, forwarding copy of a despatch from His Majesty's Minister at Peking, respecting the claim put forward on behalf of Hong Kong to the benefit of privileges similar to those accorded by China to France in respect of frontier traffic under the additional convention of commerce between France and China, dated the 26th June, 1887.

In reply, I am to state that the Board concur in Sir E. Grey's proposed reply to Sir J. Jordau.
